How to get some residue off a book?

I have a picture book, that is not a hard cover. The front over is just normal paper. Somehow, some sticky stuff got on it. It isn't too big, but it isn't from a sticker or anything. Any suggestions? I can' buy something right now, but is there anything i can do at home?
